Phillips, Julien Re-Sign With W-League Fury

The Ottawa Fury of USL W-League announced the re-signings Monday of goalkeeper Jasmine Phillips and forward Christina Julien, both of whom graduated from the team's youth program.

Phillips was 7-1-3 last season with five shutouts last season and allowed the second fewest goals in the league at five en route to the team winning its seventh straight divisional championship.

2011 will be her fifth season in the league, having spent her first two seasons with the Boston Renegades, where she was 21-8-5 with 13 shutouts in 38 games.

She played collegiately at the University of Main, where she had a career mark of 34-19-12 with 35 shutouts and a 0.52 goals against average.

Julien will spend her fourth season of five in the league with Ottawa. She finished tied for second on the team in goals last season with four.

In her previous four seasons, including 2009 with the Laval Comets, she has scored 19 goals and a pair of assists in 42 games.

Julien led James Madison University to a Sweet 16 berth in the Women's College Cup in 2008 and has scored five goals for Canada's senior women's national team in 24 games, 12 of them starts. She scored her first goal for her country on her first shot in her first game.

She will also represent Canada at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany and will join the Fury once her commitment to her country's team ends.
