The Ottawa Fury of the USL Premier Development League announced the signings Friday of three local players -- Robbie Sabadoz, Brendan Gorman and Sean Pound -- and London, Ontario native Joey Kewin, the top scorer for the Carleton University Ravens.
Sabadoz has 37 goals and 11 assists for 85 points in 51 games over three seasons at NCAA Division II Merrimack College and will play in his third straight season for Ottawa. In 2010, Sabadoz, who was part of the Fury Youth Program, had two goals and an assist in 11 PDL games.
Gorman, also a Fury Youth Program graduate, played the 2010 PDL season for the Albany BWP Highlanders and had five goals and six assists in 15 games, but he will join the Fury in mid-June after finishing a commitment in New Zealand with Dunedic Technical AFC. He has played three college seasons for St. Lawrence University and has led the NCAA D-2 school to a 38-16-4 record and has scored 27 goals and 17 assists in 45 games.
Pound appeared in two games for the Fury in 2010, but led the Algonquin College Thunder to two National titles, four Provincial titles and a National silver medal in 2008 in his four seasons there, along with earning numerous individual awards.
Kewin led the Ravens in scoring in 2010 with second goals and the team to a 9-3-2 record. He has scored 13 goals in 26 career Canadian Interuniversity Sport games for the Ontario University Association member, leading them to a 16-8-4 record. He served as the captain of fellow PDL franchise Forest City London in 2010.
Ottawa opens their 2011 PDL season May 28 against London, then hits Hamilton, Ontario the next day to face the expansion Hamilton FC Rage.
