Fredy Montero, who hadn't scored a goal for Major League Soccer's Seattle Sounders since a 2010 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup game over Chivas USA September 1, was assisted by Mauro Rosales and O'Brien White on a 19th minute goal as the Sounders shut out the defending MLS Cup champion Colorado Rapids 1-0 Friday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO.
The Sounders are now unbeaten in the last five games and, at 2-2-3 with nine points, are tied for third place in the Western Conference standings with the Rapids (3-3-0, nine points).
Both teams have home fixtures next Saturday -- Seattle against Toronto FC, the Rapids facing the Chicago Fire.
