DC United Women, the newest member of the USL W-League, named experienced Virginia soccer coach Michael Jorden as their inaugural head coach.
The franchise, affiliated with Major League Soccer's DC United, took the place of the Washington Freedom Futures, who left the league to move to Miami along with its sister team, the Washington Freedom of Women's Professional Soccer, to become magicJackSC.
United has taken over the Freedom's 2011 schedule and will play home games at the Maryland Soccerplex in Boyd's, MD.
Jorden is a 10-time Virginia State Cup champion coach, winning with teams in every sanctioned age group, and is a two-time US Youth Soccer Region I champion coach.
