Team captain and forward Jack Jewsbury scored a goal on a Kalif Alhassan assist in the 13th minute, then assisted Kenny Cooper on a 35th minute strike as the Portland Timbers won their second straight game at new JELD-WEN Field 3-2 over FC Dallas in Major League Soccer play Sunday.
Alhassan also assisted Rodney Wallace on a 55th minute goal in the victory, improving Portland's record to 2-2-1 with seven points, putting them in fourth place in the Western Conference standings. They will travel to The Home Depot Center to face the conference co-leading Los Angeles Galaxy Saturday.
David Ferreira and Brek Shea attempted a late rally for Dallas, but it wasn't enough.
Ferreira, the league's defending Most Valuable Player, put their first point on the board in the 83rd minute off a Shea assist, then reversed it three minutes later -- Shea assisting Ferreira on a goal.
FC Dallas is now 1-3-1 with four points and is alone in eighth place in the Western Conference standings. They will travel to Empire Field this Saturday to play the Vancouver Whitecaps.
