The Wilmington Hammerheads of USL PRO announced the signings Tuesday of Alex Grendi, Luke Mulholland and Gareth Evans.
Grendi was a third round pick of the Columbus Crew in the 2009 Major League Soccer SuperDraft and had an assist in his debut game that season against the Houston Dynamo.
He left the University of Pennsylvania as their third all-time leading assist maker with 20 to go with eight goals and was also unanimously named to the All-Ivy League First Team.
Mulholland played three seasons (2007-10) at Wingate University, where, in 2009, he was a First Team All-America selection and the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year.
He has played the last two seasons for Reading United AC in the USL Premier Development League, tallying a combined 12 goals and 10 assists, and was named to the 2010 PDL All-Eastern Conference First Team.
Evans played 31 games for the Newi Cefn Druids in the Welsh Premier League before signing a contract with Wrexham in 2006.
He previously played in USL for the Austin Aztex (now Orlando City Soccer Club in USL PRO) and the Real Maryland Monarchs (then USL Second Division) and was loaned out to Chester FC, where he played against Harrogate Railway Athletic in the Northern Premier League.
Before signing with the Hammerheads, Evans spent the 2011 preseason with the Los Angeles Blues.
