Caleb Folan had a pair of goals and Jamie Smith and Omar Cummings added one each as the defending Major League Soccer champion Colorado Rapids came back from a 1-1 draw to defeat DC United 4-1 Sunday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO and take over the league's best record and the Western Conference lead from defending conference and Supporters Shield champion Los Angeles Galaxy.
Santino Quaranta tied the game for United in the 70th minute off a Chris Korb assist.
The Rapids, now 3-0-0 with nine points, two points ahead of the Galaxy (2-1-1, seven) in the conference standings, will travel to FC Dallas this Friday.
United is now 1-2-0 with three points and holds the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference table. DC welcomes the Galaxy to RFK Stadium this Saturday.
