Landon Donovan scored goals in the eighth and 67th minute and Chad Barrett opened play in the fourth minute with a goal as the defending Major League Soccer's Supporters' Shield champion Los Angeles Galaxy shut out the expansion Portland Timbers 3-0 Saturday at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA.
The Galaxy have the best record in the Western Conference and the league at 4-1-3 with 15 points and will take on FC Dallas next Sunday at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, TX.
Portland is 2-3-1 with seven points and are tied with FC Dallas (same record) for fifth in the conference table. The Timbers will host Real Salt lake next Saturday at JELD-WEN Field.
