Beat Adds Fraine, Cuts Butler

The Atlanta Beat of Women's Professional Soccer signed goalkeeper Katie Fraine to a contract Monday after undergoing a two-week tryout with the team's other goalkeepers, Allison Whitworth and Alli Lipsher.

Fraine was released in the preseason by magicJack, formerly the Washington Freedom, who made her the 22nd overall pick in the 2011 WPS Draft.

The former Florida Gators star holds the school record for most career shutouts with 27 and started 68 of 84 games in Gainesville. She had a career goals against average of 0.79 and saved 256 shots. Fraine was named to the Southeastern Conference's All-First Team in 2009 and the All-Second Team in 2010.

Fraine was also called up to the US U-23 Women's National Team for a training camp session last summer and also played last summer for the Pail Blues in USL W-League.
