Major League Soccer's Vancouver Whitecaps Friday re-signed defender/midfielder Blake Wagner and added the league's first Chinese-born player in forward Long Tan.
Wagner had four goals and an assist in 17 starts over 19 appearances last season in the USSF Division 2 pro League.
Before joining the Whitecaps, he spent four seasons with MLS' FC Dallas after being selected 18th overall in 2006 SuperDraft as a Generation adidas player.
He also represented the US on the U-17, U-18 and U-23 national teams.
Tan, born in Dailian, China, came to the Whitecaps in a July 2010 trade with FC Tampa Bay in D-2 after scoring three goals and two assists in 22 starts over 25 appearances there, finishing second on the team in shots (42) and fourth in points (eight).
In 2009, he had seven goals in 14 games for the Atlanta Blackhawks of the USL Premier Development League.
