After announcing his retirement for the second time in his career January 19, goalkeeper Joe Warren reconsidered his decision Monday -- again -- and returned to the NSC Minnesota Stars of the North American Soccer League as they prepared to open their 2011 season.
He first retired from the sport in 2007 after being the longest-tenured member of the USL First Division's Minnesota Thunder.
Meanwhile, Montreal Impact defender Adam Braz ended his playing career Monday to become the team's new manager after playing all but two of his nine seasons there, ending in their top ten in games played (145), games started (121) and minutes played (10,849), and leading his team to USL First Division regular season championships in 2005 and 2006 and league titles in 2004 and 2009 as he started 22 of 24 playoff games.
In 2008, the Impact won the Nutrilite Canadian Championship title and they became the first Canadian team to reach the semifinal round of the CONCACAF Champions League. He started 10 overall NCC games, tying him with Matt Jordan, in his career and started seven of ten CCC games.
In 2009, despite playing with a thigh injury, Braz won the team's Unsung Hero Award, starting 18 of 22 games that season.
Braz played 25 games in 2003 for Vesteras SK of Sweden's Second Division and wore the Major League Soccer colors of Toronto FC in 2007.
He presentted numerous teams in Canada, inclduing the U-17, U-20, U-23 and senior national teams between 2004 and 2007, playing 12 times for the senior team, including at the 2005 and 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournaments.
