W-League Whitecaps Sign Trio Of Talented Stars

The Vancouver Whitecaps of the USL W-League announced the signings Wednesday of defender Lexi Marton, goalkeeper Erin McNulty and forward Carrie Peterson.

Martin has played two seasons of college soccer at Penn State, starting all 27 of her appearances. She played for Vancouver in 2008, assisting on a goal over four games, and played four seasons with the Toronto Lady Lynx, assisting on three goals over 35 games.

With the Lynx in 2007 at age 17, Marton was team captain and was runner-up for the league's U-19 Player of the Year and named to the All-Eastern Conference team.

On March 7, 2008, she made her debut on Canada's senior women's team and has played in eight overall games, including serving as captain when they won the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship in Puebla, Mexico, along with McNulty.

McNulty will also have a second stint in Vancouver as she had three wins and a shutout in four games in the 2008 season. She spent the last two seasons at Hudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues, winning ten games and posting six shutouts, and also played three seasons for the Ottawa Fury, where she won five games, four by shutout.

She recently completed her senior season at Florida State University. As a Seminole freshman, she played in all 27 games, leading to the final of the 2007 NCAA College Cup, where they lost 2-0 to the University of Southern California, and was named to the Soccer America All-Freshman Team and the Soccer Buzz Freshman All-America Team.

McNulty is second on the school's all-time list for wins in her position with 36.

Patterson played for Women's Professional Soccer's Philadelphia Independence, where she was the 40th overall pick of the WPS Draft, but was later traded to the Atlanta Beat before rejoining Philadelphia later in the season.

She also played for the Atlanta Silverbacks in the USL W-League, making six appearances with two goals and an assist in 2009.

She is the University of Georgia's all-time leader in goals (44), assists (23) and points (111) and was named to the 2007 National Soccer Coaches Association of America's All-America Second Team and Soccer Buzz All-America Second Team.
