W-League Piranhas Sign Novaes, Fry

The Virginia Beach Piranhas of the USL W-League announced the signings Tuesday of former Lee University forward Janaina Novaes and former Lindsey Wilson College center midfielder Elisha Fry.

Novaes, born in Brazil, scored 96 goals in 118 games at the school from 2004 to 2007 and became their all-time leading scorer. She now is a graduate assistant women's soccer coach at the Cleveland, TN-based university.

She was a four-time Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Year, a three-time National Association for Intercollegiate Athletics First Team All-American, NAIA All-Honorable Mention and Region Player of the Year, and was the SSAC's Female Athlete of the Year in 2005 and 2007.

Novaes has also played for the Brazilian Women's National Team and the Champion Sulamerican Brazil National Team.

Fry, born in Munster, Germany but who now calls home Guisborough, England, was a 2010 NAIA First Team All-American and a 2010 Mid-South Conference First Team All-American after scoring 12 goals and two assists in 23 games last season.

Fry also played in England for Sunderland WFC.
