USWNT Clinch Championship Berth In Algarve Cup With Win Over Norway

For the ninth time in its history, the US Women's National Team, the world's top-ranked team, will play for the championship in the Algarve Cup in Portugal after defeating Norway 2-0 Friday in Vila Real de San Antonio to clinch the title in Group A pool play, despite having one game left to play.

Lindsey Tarpley, off an Amy Rodriguez assist in the 33rd minute, and Carli Lloyd, off a Megan Rapinoe assist in the 63rd minute, scored for the US, the defending cup champions.

The US next plays Finland Monday in Quarteira, Portugal to finish Group A play, then will meet the Group B champion -- either China, Sweden, Iceland or Denmark -- for the championship Wednesday.
