Major League Soccer's DC United announced Thursday they have signed goalkeeper Bill Hamid to a new contract where his salary will not count against the team's cap.
Hamid became the first member of the team's youth academy to sign with the senior team and, on May 5, 2010, becaome the youngest at his position to win a league game against Sporting Kansas City (then the Kansas City Wizards), a record previously held by current US Men's National Team and former New York Red Bulls player Tim Howard.
Hamid played in 10 games last season, pitched one shutout and had 20 saves before undergoing season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder.
