Major League Soccer's Toronto FC signed four players Thursday to their roster from their youth academy -- defender Ashtone Morgan, midfielder Oscar Cordon and Matt Stinson, and forward Keith Makubuya.
Morgan joined the academy at age 16 in 2008 and was part of the Toronto Lynx's U-13 team that played against English youth academies. He also took part in several U-16 team training camps for Canada and played twice for the country's U-20 team.
Cordon was the only one of the four to get senior team playing time last season -- in June against the Vancouver Whitecaps during the Nutrilite Canadian Championship and in October versus Arabe Unido during group stage play at the 2010-11 CONCACAF Champions League. He joined Toronto's youth system in 2009 after playing for the Mississauga Falcons.
Stinson captained Toronto FC Academy' team leaving last fall to attend Winthrop University in South Carolina, where he was the team's Most Valuable Player and was named to the Big South Conference Second Team. He joined the academy in 2008 after playing for the Clarkson Comets.
Makubuya came to Toronto FC after playing for the North Mississauga Soccer Club.
The four new signees increase the number of Home Grown Players signed by Toronto since the end of last season to six.
