Major League Soccer's Portland Timbers announced Wednesday they have acquired Ugandan forward Brian Umony on loan from South Africa's University of Pretoria FC for the 2011 season and have the option of purchasing his rights at the end of the loan.
He began his professional career in Uganda with lower division team Nakawa United and Nagura Avis before playing two seasons in their top league for Kampala City Council FC from 2007 to 2009. He later signed for the 2009 season with South African Premier League's SuperSport United.
