Sounders Announce Retirement Of Nkufo

Major League Soccer's Seattle Sounders announced the retirement Monday of forward Blaise Nkufo after a 17-year professional career in which he scored 200 goals over 450 games.

He joined the Sounders July 15, 2010 after spending seven seasons in the Dutch Eredivisie with FC Twente, where he scored a club record 114 goals. With the Sounders, he had five goals in 11 MLS games and had Seattle's first hat trick in a 4-0 win over the Columbus Crew.

He also scored seven goals in 27 games for Switzerland's national team and appeared in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
