Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls played to a 1-1 draw Tuesday with Mexican Primera Division team Atlas de Guadalajara in an exhibition game at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ.
Atlas' goal came in the 78th minute when Red Bulls player Tim Ream scored an own goal, but Rafa Marquez scored in the game-tying goal in the final regulation minute on a penalty kick.
In related news, the Red Bulls announced Wednesday they have signed mdfielder/defender Teemu Tainio and defender Stephen Keel.
Taino comes to New York after playing in two games in 2010 for Amsterdam's Ajax and, before that, spending five years in the English Premier League between Birmingham City, Sunderland and Tottenham Hotspur.
He began his pro career at age 14 when he was promoted to the senior team of Finland third division member TP-47. Taino was them moved to FC Haka in their top division, the Veikkausliga, where he scored four goals in 20 games and led them to the Finnish Cup in 1997.
Taino then went to France to spend eight seasons at AJ Auxere of Ligue 1, where he led them to two Coupe de France titles and scored 14 goals over 150 games there.
Taino has also scored six goals in 51 games for Finland's national team.
Keel, who has been on trial for a month at New York, led the Portland Timbers to a record 24-game unbeaten streak and the 2009 USL First Division Championship.
Before joining the Timbers, he spent five years in the Colorado Rapids system, and was loaned to the USL-1 Seattle Sounders in 2006.
Keel also played 36 games with Colorado's two-time MLS Reserve Division championship teams and six games with the senior team before being waived in March 2009, when he signed with the Timbers.
He also spent time in the USL Premier Development League with the Bradenton Academics.
He had 13 goals and nine assists at Wake Forest University over four seasons, where he was a forward.
