The San Diego Sockers will look to defend their Professional Arena Soccer League championship title and earn the 12th title in the team's long and storied history when the PASL holds the 2010-11 North American Championship tournament Thursday through Saturday at Cincinnati Gardens in Cincinnati, OH.
Six teams will compete for the title -- the two-time Western Division-winning Sockers, the host Cincinnari Kings, winners of the Eastern Division, and the Tacoma Stars, who finished in the Western Division for PASL; Guerreros de La Raza de Guadalajara and the PPM Sidekicks del Estado de Mexico, finalists in the Liga Mexicana de Futbol Rapido, and Calgary United, regular season champion of the Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League.
The tournament opens Thursday with Guadalajara taking on the Stars in the first game and Calgary facing the Sidekicks.
The Guadalajara-Stars winner will face the host Kings in the nightcap Friday, with the Sockers taking on the United-Sidekicks winner in the opener.
Semifinal winners Friday meet Saturday night for the league championship.
