It was a dark and stormy night at The Home Depot Center...
The Los Angeles Galaxy opened defense of their Major League Soccer Supporters Shield and 2010 Western Conference champion Sunday in Carson, CA in a 1-1 draw with the New England Revolution that will be remembered for the lousy weather and the lousy officiating that stole three points from the Galaxy.
The Revolution wasted little time setting the pace of the game when captain Shalrie Joseph fired a Marko Perovic pass into the back of the net three minutes after kickoff.
The Galaxy valiantly tired to rally their troops in the first half, but a 17th minute equalizing goal by Juninho was wiped away due to goalkeeper interference from the Revs' Matt Reis and a game-leading goal from Mike Magee in the 23rd minute was disallowed due to offsides.
Juninho finally scored a goal that counted as he made an unassisted play in the 39th minute and neither team could come closer to a goal in the rainy second half.
The Galaxy next travel to Sandy, UT's Rio Tinto Stadium to face Real Salt Lake this Saturday and the Revolution will host DC United that afternoon at Gillette Stadium.
