The Montreal Impact of the North American Soccer League announced the signing of American midfielder Amir Lowery, who spent the last two seasons with the Carolina RailHawks in the USL First Division (2009) and the USSF Division 2 Pro League (2010).
Lowery, who played collegiately at Wake Forest from 2001 to 2004, was a third round choice of the Colorado Rapids in the 2005 Major League Soccer, where he played in two games before being loaned to the Atlanta Silverbacks in USL-1. In 2007 and 2008, he played in MLS Reserve Division games for the Kansas City Wizards (now Sporting Kansas City) and the San Jose Earthquakes, respectively.
He recently played two games in League Cup February 5 and 12 for FC Honka on Finland before accepting the Impact's offer.
