Fire Signs Former US U-20 Player Ferrari

Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire announced the signing Thursday of former US U-20 National Team forward Gabriel Ferrari, who scored three goals in four games with the team.

Ferrari played high school soccer at Saint Benedict's Preparatory School in Newark, NJ, then joined the youth system of MLS' New York Red Bulls until signing at age 19 with Sampdoria of Italy's Serie A.

He would then be loaned to Perugia of Italy's third division, Lega Prima Divisione, in July 2008, where we would play 14 games and scored a goal. After that, he played 14 games of the 2009-10 season with Italy's Foggia.

Ferrari also played in Switzerland for AC Bellinzona and FC Wohlen.
