Fire Heat Up The Trade Wires

Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire Wednesday completed two major trades.

In the first, the team acquired Colombian defender Yamith Cuesta from Chivas USA in return for a 2012 second round pick in the MLS Supplemental Draft.

Cuesta began his professional career in his native country with Santa Fe of their first division, scoring two goals in 24 matches.

He then went to second division's Expreso Rojo, where he played in 34 games in 2008 and 2009 before being loaned to Chivas in August 2009, where he played in 15 combined games from 2009 to 2010.

Cuesta also scored one goal in three games for Colombia's U-20 National Team.

In their second move, Chicago traded forward Calen Carr, who had nine goals and three assists in 82 career games between 2006, when he drafted by the Fire, and 2010, to the Houston Dynamo for forward Dominic Oduro.

Oduro, who also joined the league in 2006, also played at FC Dallas and the New York Red Bulls before settling in as a Dynamo, scoring six goals and four assists in 44 games between 2009 and 2011.

Last season, Oduro tied a career-high of five goals after appearing in 27 of 30 regular season games, starting 19.
