Fire Gets Past Sporting Kansas City In Home Season Opener

Diego Chaves, Gaston Puerari and Marco Pappa scored goals as the Chicago Fire won their 2011 Major League Soccer season home opener 3-2 over Sporting Kansas City Saturday at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL.

The Fire improves to 1-0-1 with four points after two games and has next Saturday off before facing the Seattle Sounders April 9 at Qwest Field.

Matt Besler and Teal Bunbury had Kansas City's goals in the loss and they are now 1-1-0 with three points as they continue on a league-record 10-game road trip to start a season while they await the opening of LIVESTRONG Sporting Park June 9 in Kansas City, KS against the Fire.
