The final Sunday of the Major Indoor Soccer League season will decide the entire playoff picture after this Sunday's big games -- the league-leading Baltimore Blast against the second-place Milwaukee Wave in their final regular season game at US Cellular Arena and the Missouri Comets hosting the already-eliminated Chicago Riot at Independence Events Center in Independence, MO.
In Milwaukee, behind a hat trick and assists on goals to Greg Howes and Guiliano Oliviero by Marco Terminesi, the Wave beat the Blast 15-10. Evan McNeley had a three-point goal and Marcio Leite added a two-pointer.
Machel Millwood matched the hat trick for the Blast and Max Ferdinand and Adauto Neto had two-pointers each.
In Missouri, Byron Alvarez has four two-pointers and assisted on Lucas Rodriguez's goal and Jamar Beasley had a brace as the Comets beat the Riot 18-12.
Mirsad Dzilic and Stefan Stokic also scored goals for the Comets.
Bato Radoncic led the Riot with a hat trick and an assist and Alex Megson, Fred Degand and Miodrag Djerisilo added goals as Chicago finished their 2010-11 season at 5-15.
Now come the fun part -- this Sunday.
The Blast and Wave are now tied for the league lead in the standings at 14-5 with the Blast hosting the Comets and the Wave hosting the Omaha Vipers.
If the Blast win and the Wave doesn't, the Blast are regular season champions and will host the Championship Game March 25 at First Mariner Arena.
If the reverse holds true, the Wave defend their 2009-10 regulsr season championship and will host the Championship Game at US Cellular Arena.
Whoever finishes second in the standings will face either the Comets (8-11) or the Vipers (7-12) in a two-game aggregate-goal series to determine the opponent of the regular season championship in the league's title game.
