FC New York of USL PRO announced the signings Tuesday of Gary Boughton, Brent Brockman, Troy Cole, Steve Covino and Josiah Snelgrove.
Boughton was a four-year starter and two-time captain at Medaille College in Buffalo, NY. In his 2009 season, he set the all-time NCAA career assists record with 82 over four seasons. He was a two-time Scholastic All-American, a two-time Alleghany Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Year and a four-time all-Conference pick.
He also finished his career there with 35 goals over four seasons and started all 82 games.
Boughton played four seasons in the USL Premier Development League, first with the Fort Wayne Fever, where he led them in scoring in 2008, then to the Austin Aztex U-23 in 2009 and the Houston Leones in 2010.
Brockman spent two seasons at George Mason University after transferring from St. Francis University.
Cole played in 2010 for AC St. Louis in the USSF Division 2 Pro League. He was with the USL PDL's Atlanta Blackhawks during his college years, spent between Irvine Valley College in Irvine, CA and Mars Hall College in North Carolina.
At Mars Hill, he scored seven goals in 35games and was the team's captain in his senior year.
Covino's name can be found all throughout the 2010 season record books at Siena College, where he was named to the All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Performance Suburu All-North Atlantic Team. He is the first student-athlete from Siena to sign a professional contract.
After taking the 2010 season off to tend to an injury, Snelgrove will return to the game with New York.
He played for the USL-2 Charlotte Eagles from 2007 to 2009 after graduating from Houghton College in 2007.
At Houghton, he had two goals and 13 assists over four seasons and was a three-time all-conference selection and a 2007 National Association for Intercollegiate Athletics All-American.
