FC New York Names Shaw Team's First Captain

FC New York of USL PRO announced Monday former Arsenal forward Paul Shaw has been named the team's first captain.

He began his professional career at Arsenal in 1991, debuting against Nottingham Forest December 3, 1994. Unable to make it to the club's senior team, he was loaned to Burnley, Cardiff City and Peterborough United before being sold to Millwall in September 1997, where he scored 25 goals in over 100 appearances before moving to Gillingham in 2000.

In 2004, he again moved, this time to Sheffield United, who loaned him to Rotherham United for several stints before later making first team appearances with Chesterfield, Saltergate Limited and Oxford United.

In the last two season, Shaw has scored 21 goals in 48 appearances for Ferencvarosi FC in Hungary, returning them to the Soproni Liga after being relegated for three years.
