Three more players have signed Thursday for FC Edmonton in the North American Soccer League, increasing their roster to 15 players, with more to come before leaving Sunday for Arizona, where they will hold training camp.
Defender Alex Surprenant played for the reserve team of the USL First Division's Montreal Impact in 2007, then joined the senior roster, where he stayed for two seasons, winning a USL First Division title in 2009 and playing in the CONCACAF Champions League in 2008. He played at the junior level for the Canadian National Team since 2005.
Midfielder Dominic Oppong, born in Ghana but who grew up in Scarborough, Ontario, played two seasons for the University of Cincinnati, winning a Big East Championship and Newcomer of the Year, before transferring to the University of Buffalo for his final two seasons, where he was named a Second Team All-Mid-American Conference selection and a MAC Coaches' Award winner. He played professionally for the USL PRO's Harrisburg City Islanders back in USL Second Division and capped with Canada's U-17 and U-20 teams.
Forward Paul Craig played three seasons at the University of Prince Edward Island, where he was a Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player and Athlete of the Year, as well as being named to a conference all-star team and the All-Canadian team. He spent seven months training in Holland with NEC Mijmegen and played in the USL Premier Development League for the Thunder Bay Chill before returning to the University of Saskatchewan for his final collegiate season.
