Earthquakes Bring Weber Back

Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquakes signed goalkeeper Andrew Weber to another stint with the franchise Monday.

Weber played in two games in 2009 and in half of the 2010 season before being released June 30, 2010.

From 2006 to 2008, Weber played for the Montreal Impact, then of the USL First Division, in 29 overall games.

In the 2006 and 2007 seasons, he played in a combined 24 matches, going 12-4-8 with 10 shutouts and posting a 0.72 goals-against average.

In 2008, he played in five regular season games and a CONCACAF Champions League game.

Weber played collegiately at the University of New Mexico, where he started all four seasons and left as their all-time leader in games played (83), minutes played (7,681), wins (50), saves (350) and shutouts (25) and posted a 1.18 career goals-against average.

He was a three-time All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honoree and a two-time All-Far West Region selection.

In his final season with the Lobos, he gave up 11 goals in 20 games and set a school record for goals-against average at 0.55, while the team finished 17-1-2 and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA College Cup.

Weber, in his junior season, became the first at his position in school history to score a goal when a punt deflected off of a defender from UC-Irvine and went into the net.

As a sophomore, he led the Lobos to the second round of the NCAA College Cup.
