Major League Soccer's Columbus Crew announced the signing of defender Julius James and the release of defender Kwaku Nyamekye Monday.
James joins the Crew after spending 1 1/2 seasons with DC United, scoring two goals in 31 games. He opened the 2010 MLS season with the Houston Dynamo, where he played in eight games.
The ninth overall pick in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft from Connecticut by Toronto FC, he scored one goal in 13 games before being traded to the Dynamo for midfielder Dwayne DeRosario.
