Blast Sweep Major Indoor Soccer League Postseason Awards

The Baltimore Blast, regular season champions of the Major Indoor Soccer League and set to face the Milwaukee Wave for the 2010-11 championship title Friday at First Mariner Arena, swept all three major postseason awards announced Wednesday -- Coach of the Year (Danny Kelly), Defender of the Year (Pat Morris), and Goalkeeper of the Year (Sagu).

Baltimore began the season 5-0, then had an eight-game winning streak from January 21, 2011 to February 27, 2011 to end the season 15-5, tied with the Wave, but Baltimore won the head-to-head seasonal matchup with Milwaukee four games to two to claim the regular season crown.

Kelly, a former Blast player who was named head coach in May 2006 after leading them to the 2006 MISL title as an interim head coach, led them to the 2008 and 2009 titles, and this is his second Coach of the Year award.

Morris finished second in the league in blocks with 36 and tied for tenth in points with 42 in his first season with Baltimore after playing the previous 11 with the Philadelphia Kixx. A three-time Defensive Player of the Month this season (November 2010, January and February 2011), he recorded at least one point in 13 games and had a nine-game goal-scoring streak from January 9 to February 20, 2011.

Sagu, who has won three indoor soccer championships with the Blast, won his third Goalkeeper of the Year award in his career and was a three-time Goalkeeper of the Month in 2010-11 (November and December 2010, February 2011). He led the league in minutes among fellow goalkeepers and was second in the league in points against average at 9.64 and fourth in save percentage at 74.7.
