Battery Wins Over Toronto; Brettschneider Scores Lone Goal In United Win

Dane Kelly had a goal and helped set up a penalty kick for Mike Zaher as the host Charleston Battery of USL PRO edged Toronto FC of Major League Soccer 2-1 in Matchday Two of the 2011 Carolina Challenge Cup tournament at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, SC Wednesday.

Toronto took the opening lead in the 14th minute on a Nathan Sturgis 14th-minute penalty kick.

Meanwhile, in the opening game Wednesday, rookie Blake Brettschneider had the lone goal in the 10th minute for MLS' DC United in a 1-0 win over the Chicago Fire.

The final matchday of the tournament is Saturday, with Toronto FC facing United and the Battery playing the Fire.

The Battery has never won this tournament in its history.
