Alvarez Repeats As MISL's Most Valuable Player

Missouri Comets forward Byron Alvarez was named Thursday the Most Valuable Player of the 2010-11 Major Indoor Soccer League season, retaining the award he earned in the 2009-10 season with La RaZa de Monterrey.

Alvarez led the team and the league in scoring with 80 points, led the league in goals scored (33) and hat tricks (five), and tied for the league lead in game-winning goals with five.

He also scored at least a point in 17 games this season and had the league's longest goal scoring (nine games) and point scoring (15 games) streaks.

Alvarez was the league's Offensive Player of the Month in February and was the league's Player of the Week for the period that ended February 28.
