Impact Signs American Goalkeeper Gaudette

The North American Soccer League's Montreal Impact announced the signing Saturday of American goalkeeper Bill Gaudette, who has played his last three seasons with the Puerto Rico Islanders, both in the USL First Division and the USSF Division 2 Pro League.

He led the Islanders to a USL-1 regular season title in 2008 and was named the league's Goalkeeper of the Year, then, in 2009, led them to the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions League.

The Islanders won the 2010 USSF D-2 league championship in the only year of existence for the merged USL First Division and NASL.

Gaudette played collegiately at St. John's, posting a 43-12-12 career record, and also played with the Brooklyn Knights of the semi-pro USL Premier Development League.

Drafted ninth overall by the Columbus Crew in the 2005 Major League Soccer Draft, he would play a combined 17 games with them during the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
