Women's Professional Soccer Thursday announced the schedule for the first two weekends of the 2011 season, the league's third, as well as the opening games of Fox Soccer Channel's WPS Sunday on FSC schedule.
The entire league schedule will be announced in February, with six teams playing an 18-game, April-to-August regular season, followed by a four-team playoff and the 2011 WPS Championship presented by Citi the weekend of August 27-28.
The team with the league's worst record in 2010, the Atlanta Beat, will host the season's opening game April 9 against the Boston Breakers at Kennesaw State University Soccer Stadium in Kennesaw, GA at 7 p.m. Eastern time.
The next night (April 10), FSC will air the match between Sky Blue FC and the Philadelphia Independence from Yurcak Field at Rutgers University in Piscataway, NJ at 6 p.m. Eastern to end the first week of play.
In Week 2, the Independence will play host to magicTalk SC (formerly known as the Washington Freedom) at Widener University in Chester, PA and the Beat will host Sky Blue April 16, with both games kicking off at 7 p.m. Eastern time.
Finally, on April 17, the Breakers will welcome FSC and the expansion Western New York Flash to Harvard Stadium in Cambridge, MA at 6 p.m. Eastern time.
