The Ottawa Fury of the USL W-League announced the addition Friday of Kwesi Loney as an assistant coach.
Loney recently served as assistant coach under Sandy Mackie at his alma mater, Carleton University, where he played from 2000 to 2002, leading the Ravens to a runner-up finish at the national championships in his final season.
At Carleton in 2010, the Ravens finished 9-4-2.
Before joining Carleton, he spent two seasons with the Algonquin Thunder, serving as assistant coach in 2008 and head coach in 2009.
The Thunder were two-time Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Provincial champions and twice reached the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association championship game.
Loney was named Coach of the Year by both organizations in 2009.
In 2003, Loney played for the Ottawa Wizards of the Canadian Soccer League and represented his country at the World University Games in South Korea.
He also played for the Ottawa Royals in 2004, leading them to an Ontario Cup title, and for the Fury in the USL Premier Development League.
