The Fort Lauderdale Strikers, formerly the Miami FC Blues, of the North American Soccer League announced the signing of 20-year-old forward David Santamaria Tuesday.
Santamaria completed one season of college soccer at Jacksonville University and played high school soccer in Miami for Miami Sunset Senior High School.
He attended a team combine in Fort Lauderdale in October 2009 and impressed team officials so much, he was offered a trip to the youth academy run by the Strikers' owner, Brazilian-owned Traffic Sports, in Brazil for a two-week tryout before attending college.
