Major League Soccer's 2009 MLS Cup champion, Real Salt Lake, announced the hiring of former Chicago Fire defender C.J. Brown as an assistant coach Tuesday, maintaining the team's uniqueness as the only team in the league to be made up of veteran players.
Brown replaces Robin Fraser, who was named the new head coach of Chivas USA earlier this month.
Brown played in over 300 games for the Fire from its debut season in 1998 to this past season. He led the franchise to the 1998 MLS Cup title and to the 2003 MLS Cup championship game, as well as to four Lamar Hunt US Open Cup championships in 1998, 2000, 2003 and 2006.
