Rhinos Goalkeeper Vallow Retires To Become Assistant Coach For Flash

Scott Vallow announced Wednesday he is retiring as a goalkeeper with the Rochester Rhinos of USL PRO to become assistant coach of the expansion Western New York Flash of Women's Professional Soccer.

Vallow played nine seasons with the Rhinos (2000-02, 2005-10) and leaves as the team's all-time leader in wins (83) and shutouts (34) and in the top three all-time at his position in regular season starts (168), appearances (166) and minutes played (15,053).

He led the Rhinos to back-to-back A-League championships in 2000 and 2001 and was named the league's Goalkeeper of the Year after the 2000 season.

Vallow joined Major League Soccer after the 2002 season and played the 2003 and 2004 seasons with Colorado Rapids before returning to the Rapids in 2005.
