The North American Soccer League confirmed news Saturday from the US Soccer Federation that the league's provisional sanctioning as a Division 2 Professional League for the 2011 season was withdrawn, due to the league's inability to meet new, tougher standards for such league.
The NASL announced they will work closely with USSF officials to resolve the issues preventing the league from being granted sanctioning and will resubmit an application in time for being reviewed at the federation's Annual General Meeting February 11 and 12, but also said they will not pursue sanctioning for any division lower than Division 2 Professional.
