MISL's Two Undefeated Teams Fall Prior To January 8 Showdown

The only undefeated teams in the Major Indoor Soccer League -- the defending regular season champion Milwaukee Wave and the Baltimore Blast, both 5-0 entering play Friday -- lost to ruin (partially) a matchup between the two teams January 8 at First Mariner Arena in Baltimore.

Carlos "Chile" Farias had five points on a two-point and a three-point goal as the host Omaha Vipers edged the Blast 9-8 Friday at Omaha Civic Auditorium, with Frederico Moojen and Johnny Torres adding two-point goals in the victory.

Worteh Sampson led the Blast with a two-pointer and assisted on a Max Ferdinand goal and Pat Healer and Aduato Neto scored goals.

In the second game of New Year's Eve, Byron Alvarez had a hat trick and an assist, Jamar Beasley hit a three-pointer, a two-pointer and assisted on another goal, and John Wall had two points as the Missouri Comets upset the Wave at US Cellular Arena in Milwaukee.

Marco Terminesi was the top scorer for Milwaukee with two power play goals and Guiliano Oliviero had a two-point goal and assisted on Marcio Leite's goal in the loss.

Milwaukee and Baltimore are now 5-1 and tied for the league lead in the standings.
