MISL Names December Players Of The Month

The Major Indoor Soccer League Tuesday announced its December 2010 Players of the Month.

Omaha Vipers forward Carlos "Chile" Farias was named the Offensive Player of the Month after scoring 15 points over two wins in the team's four games last month, finishing 2-2, and currently leads the scoring with 27 points.

He tallied 10 of his 15 points in a 17-6 home win over the Chicago Riot December 10 on a three-point goal, three two-point goals and an assist and had a three-point and a two-point goal December 31 in a 9-8 overtime upset victory over the previously unbeaten Baltimore Blast.

Farias is also a two-time MISL Player of the Week for weeks ending November 2 and December 13.

Blast defender Mike Lookingland was named the Defensive Player of the Month after having four points and 10 blocks and the team went 3-1. He scored a goal in a 22-6 rout of the Missouri Comets December 29 and also assisted on two other goals.

On the season, Lookingland has seven points and 13 blocks.

The league named Baltimore's Sagu and the Milwaukee Wave's Nick Vorberg Co-Goalkeepers of the Month as both shared nearly identical stats and played almost every second of all four games in December.

Sagu gave up 14 goals, including three three-pointers for 31 points and Vorberg allowed 15 goals, only one being a three-pointer, for the same point total.

Baltimore and Milwaukee, the defending league regular season champion, ended 2010 with identical 5-1 records to tie for first place in the standings, but will meet in a home-and-home series this weekend, beginning Saturday in Baltimore, then Sunday in Milwaukee.
