The Montreal Impact, playing the 2011 season in the North American Soccer League before heading to Major League Soccer in 2012, announced the promotion of former player, head coach and technical director Nick De Santis to sporting director and the retirement of goalkeeper Matt Jordan, who was named the team's director of soccer operations.
De Santis led the Impact to three USL First Division titles -- in 1999 as a player, in 2004 as head coach and in 2009 as technical director, a position he took in June 2008 -- as well as helped create the team that won the 2008 Nutrilite Canadian Championship and earned a spot representing Canada in the 2009-10 CONCACAF Champions League.
Jordan played 13 years at his position -- eight in Major League Soccer between FC Dallas, the Colorado Rapids and the Columbus Crew, four with the Impact and one season (2003-04) in the Danish SuperLiga with Odense Boldklub.
He had a record of 55-46-17 in MLS with 30 shutouts in 117 career games.
Jordan leaves the Impact in second place all-time in matches played (115), minutes played (10,238) and shutouts (42).
At Odense Boldklub, he went 15-3-3 with nine shutouts shuttling between the reserve and first teams.
In his new position, Jordan will serve as an assistant to De Santis on the first team and serve as a liaison between the team and MLS in matters of trades, player signings and loans, and acquiring foreign players.
