Major Indoor Soccer League commissioner David Grimaldi recently told the Wichita Eagle he would like to see indoor soccer return to the city, possibly as soon as next season as part of an expansion to ten teams.
The city was home to the Wichita Wings, one of the top franchises in league history and home to some of the most dedicated wings in the sport, the Orange Army, named for the team's orange uniforms.
The newspaper cited two possible places for the team to call home:
- 5,000-seat Hartman Arena, currently used for indoor football
- 15,000-seat Intrust Bank Arena, used by the Wichita Thunder hockey team, but, with the arena's upper bowl closed off, as it is for the Thunder, seats 7,000
