Galaxy Sign Argentine Midfielder Lopez; Reunites With 2011 Draft Pick Cardozo

Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy announced Friday they have signed Argentine midfielder Miguel Lopez, on loan from Quilmes in that country's Primera B Nacional (second division) league, to a contract for the 2011 season that reunited him with fellow Quilmes teammate and 2011 first-round SuperDraft pick Paolo Cardozo.

Lopez appeared in 21 games from Quilmes and helped them earn a promotion to the main Primera Division in August 2010 before the Apertura season.

He began his soccer career at age 10 in the youth system of Gimnasia La Plata, where he stayed for seven years.

In 2005, Lopez joined the first team of Deportivo Coreano in Tomeo Argentina B and played through the 2008 season before signing with Defensores Cambaceres in Argentina's Primera C league.
