Former Wizards Player Okafor Found Dead Friday In Dallas-Area Home

The body of former Major League Soccer defender Uche Okafor, who played for the Kansas City Wizards (now Sporting Kansas City), was found dead Friday at his home in Little Elm, TX, near Dallas. He was 43.

No cause of death was immediately reported but an autopsy was to be performed Friday.

Okafor played for the Wizards in 119 regular season and seven postseason games from the league's inaugural season in 1996 until 2000, when the team won the MLS Cup.

He was also a member of the Nigerian men's national team throughout the 1990's.

Soccer Scene USA offers its condolences to the Okafor family on their loss.
