FC Tampa Bay of the North American Soccer League announced the signing of defender J.P. Rodrigues to a two-year contract with a club option for a third season.
The Tampa native, who played at Land O' Lakes High School, spent the last four seasons with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers (then Miami FC Blues), then was loaned to Major League Soccer's DC United after the 2010 USSF Division 2 Pro League season.
Rodrigues has represented Guyana from 2006 to 2010 in international competition, including in FIFA qualification games for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
He was the Atlantic Sun Conference Defender of the Year in his final season at Belmont University in Nashville, where he played from 2002 to 2005.
