Major League Soccer's DC United, the worst team in the league last season, announced Friday the re-signing of forward Kurt Morsink, the signing of defender Daniel Woolard, and the mutual agreement release of forward Pablo Hernandez.
Morsink came to United in March after playing three seasons with Sporting Kansas City (then the Kansas City Wizards), who selected him with the 42nd overall pick in the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft. With United, he started 18 of 20 regular season games and in all four of their games in the 2010 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament.
In 2007 with Kansas City, he started 10 of 21 regular season games and played in all three league playoff games. 2008 saw him assist on three goals and start in 13 of 21 games, but he would miss most of the 2009 season due to injury.
Wooland scored one goal and started eight of 16 regular season games over three seasons with the Chicago Fire, who chose him with the 47th overall pick in the 2007 MLS SuperDraft. He spent part of the 2010 preseason with United before signing in September 2010 with the Carolina RailHawks of the USSF Division 2 Pro League.
Hernandez joined United July 1, 2010 from Uruguay's Defensor Sporting, where he started 13 of 14 games but gained no statistics on the pitch.
