Byron Alvarez had a hat trick, Vahid Assadpour scored a two-point goal and an assist, and Jamar Beasley scored a pair of two-point goals in a 36 second span of the fourth quarter as the Missouri Comets got past the host Omaha Vipers 21-20 Sunday at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in the highest scoring Major Indoor Soccer League game this season.
The previous mark was a 24-11 victory November 26 by the Milwaukee Wave over the Comets at US Cellular Arena in Milwaukee.
Boris Pardo had a three-point goal for the Comets and Jamie Hardin, Leo Gibson and Birche Luiz added two-point goals to their cause.
Carlos Farias had a seven-point night for the Vipers with a two-point goal, a three-point goal and two assists. Andre Gustavo Sandri Silva added five points on a pair of two-pointers and and assist, Johnny Torres had a pair of standard goals, Ryan Junge posted a three-pointer, and Frederico Moojen (two-point goal, assist) and Marcelo Fontana (two-point goal) also scored for the Vipers.
Missouri is now 4-8 and in fourth place, 4 1/2 games behind the co-leading Wave and the Baltimore Blast, both 8-3. The Comets host the Wave this Friday.
Omaha is now 5-6 and in third, three behind the co-leaders, and will travel to Milwaukee this Saturday.
Both Missouri and Omaha meet again this coming Sunday at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
